What issue at VCU make them bad coaches? Are they good, but get infected with some virus that make them bad?

Dana Kirk, although I think Memphis had to vacate pretty much everything he did.

I think it is something to be considered, however Wade had success as a HC before VCU. Capel, Grant & Smart didn't have any HC experience before VCU.

But you're right, the track record hasn't been stellar. I still think Wade would be a low risk, potentially high reward hire. Especially considering the current state of the program.

Bottom line, will LSU hoops sell tickets with Wade?
It will be a wait and see approach for many.

Hmm ok, has nothing to do with anything, but I'll bite. Let's check Wikipedia ...

Dana Kirk and Jeff Capel both produced a 30 win season at their next gig.

That took 5 seconds.

Doesn't matter.

Can he recruit?
Can he coach x's and o's?
Can he lead a program?

I saw where someone posted that the current discussions centered on more than just salary, i.e. resources, etc. Nunez is the facilities, resources guy and has a strong background in hoops from his time at Florida. LSU will make whatever commitment this guy wants.
Time will tell and hoops coaching hires are possibly riskier than football. You have a much more limited roster so the margin for error is small.

Name a coach from Utah that succeeded in the SEC before Urban Meyer. Name a coach from MSU that succeed before Nick Saban in the SEC
