Depends. I prefer Kauai. With the caveat that Maui has much better water quality for scuba/snorkeling and better night life. Both are great. Maui has a great vibe and great views. So I'm not in any way knocking it. But here are some reasons to consider Kauai. Rent a car and hit the South and North Shore. We snorkeled on the North and South shore.

A day hiking through Waimea Canyon is incredible.


A power rafting trip on the Na Pali Coast is perfect.


The Grand Hyatt in Poipu has an insane pool area that you have to see to believe.
