I've done a lot of school based truancy work and have seen a ton of kids with medical conditions that have had to miss a decent amount of school. There are a ton of ways, if you have valid documentation, to get accommodations for that like in home tutoring and accommodations.

Of course I've also seen plenty that throw out "well she just has a hard time with her "illness"" with no documentation, jumping from clinic to clinic, and majority of the time end up in court for unexcused absences.

Something doesn't pass the smell test.
