True. But then you have situations like the one where I was in kindergarten. I got sent to the office and got my arse whooped for telling telling the teacher (who was female I might add) that the story she read in class one day was giving me a hard on.

I wouldn't have known that phrase if not for Top Gun.

But if you hadn't seen Top Gun you wouldn't have this awesome story!

But did you even know what it meant?

In elementary, I got in trouble for calling the girls "lesbians". Well to me a "lesbian" was a girl who likes other girls. (I think I had heard my older cousins using the word or something) They all liked each other and were friends so to what I understood the definition to be, they were in fact, lesbians.

The school tried to punish me for this but my parents stepped in and told them no fricking way because I didn't even know what I was actually saying. Then they sat me down and explained what lesbians really are.

THAT is good parenting.

I'm actually surprised that no one else is talking about the black characters in the movie. Yeah, I know it's a fantasy film, but it is a fantasy film based in history. And when you look at the history, the casting of black actors in main roles amounts to nothing but stunt casting.

Beauty and the Beast is set in the year 1740. Yet slavery is not abolished in France until 1794. Despite this, we have three very prominent black characters who would not have been able to climb as high as they did on the social ladder.

- Pere Robert, Catholic priest. The first black Catholic priest was not ordained until 1854.

- Madam Garderobe, the maestro's wife. Interracial marriages/relationships were not legalized in France until 1792. There's no way this marriage could have survived so openly in French court.

- Plumette, Lumiere's love interest. See above.
