In the early 1990s NASCAR wanted to build a track in the West Monroe/Calhoun area because they wanted a track on I-20 between Talladega and their westcoast tracks. Well, local politicians screwed it and would not work with NASCAR on taxes etc. That track is now located in Ft. Worth. Typical of Louisiana to screw that up.

10 years ago almost every guy I knew in south La watched religiously. They all wore hats and had number stickers on their trucks. My brother in law had watch parties every sunday and made a couple races every year.

I haven't heard any of these same people talk about nascar for a few years now.
