Ok and there has been more coverage of Youth sports in the last 10 years than the prior 100 years combined?
probably true, but so what? The audience is still fairly narrow, that's a feature by the way of the current media. still doesn't mean other kids weren't more famous.

Youtube is a faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar bigger platform than magazines.
now maybe, though somewhat debatable, however, you are just further proving the point that you can't see beyond your bubble.

Type Lamelo in to youtube and sort it by view count you get almost 2 pages before you find a video with less than 1m views
So what? Bat Dad has videos with 22M views
SI still has a circulation of 3.5M. The point are missing is Youtube is one platform, once some one is out there in "mainstream" media like SI or guesting on talk shows, they are more famous. A lot more people know who LaMelo Ball is after the segment on ESPN this weekend than from you tube videos.

Views on youtube are a far greater gauge of fame but you can look at instagram too
No it's not, its a gauge of popularity on social media at best, view count does not correct for the same person watching a video repeatedly. Also the whole point of people putting stuff on YouTube is to get noticed and move to the mainstream
Again, I'm not saying Lamelo Ball is completely unknown, his 92 points made Sports Center. But there is no way on God's green earth he's the most famous 15 y/o athlete of all time. That's just stupid hyperbole.
