history shows they let players wanting big contracts go by trading them instead
the only one exception is brady and to be honest his contract is on the "very" cheap side for who he is and what he has done
the patriots are the penny pinching grandma with a full bank account but till eating tuna fish all week to save 3 cents when it comes to paying players at contract time

Devin McCourty, Gronk, Hernandez, Gilmore, adalious Thomas, Logan mankins, Moss in 08, Revis, are just off the top of my head examples of free agents and home grown talents that have gotten top of the market deals from the pats the past decade

They don't mind spending. What they do mind is spending for a player knowing their best years are behind them.
