well to be accurate he isn't part of the team until he signs and according to league rules they aren't supposed to be able to "officially" negotiate for him until he does.

personally I don't think they ever had any plans other then resigning both butler and hightower and are just playing hard ball so the players lower expectations of salary deals then are going to get.

if butler ever would be "shopped" I think the saints could do it at a great cost like 1st round pick plus another pick or player

I disagree with PFT at the end where it says it's very likely Butler won't get it from the Pats


The Pats have 36 million in cap space, I don't see why everyone assumes they won't pay Gilmore and Butler
