What had gone wrong? There were two culprits: an honest (if careless) misunderstanding about technology on the part of the press; and yet another shrewd misinformation campaign orchestrated by WikiLeaks.
Three. People are foolish and self-obsessed and assume any technology developed will be directed at their boring arse lives.

Yep. Fashion your message for dupes and appeal to their narcissism.

Who's to say the next President, whether it be another O or W, maybe decide that you are a problem and then go back and research EVERYTHING you have said and done for the last 15-20 years?

I am not a bad person but I sure as hell have not been an "angel" for the last 15-20 years.

Why is it no problem for you that they have stored EVERYTHING we have said and done to "maybe" be used against us in some way in the future?

Very Orwellian I would say.

I agree that people tend to put themselves at the center of the universe on just about every issue. Follow up observation is that PRISM collects as much or more info on Americans as it does foreign countries, which is an example if of a US Agency targeting random people with tech tools.

I think its safe to say that the Agency using this tech against normal folks sitting in a bad guy's two hop isn't exactly far fetched. If you did such an analysis on me, you could find all kinds of reasons to be interested. I am basically a boy scout, but we both know that the raw data from just one type of intel doesn't always tell the whole story. That's what concerns me here. it's too easy to paint a dark picture and hype someone for targeting and far too easy to target them with invasive tools.
