dude cars all over the road right now have the technology to stop themselves if something suddenly appears in front of them like a branch. Asking what will a driverless car do in the event of a fallen branch has been answered years ago

And they get that shite wrong all the time. I've ridden in multiple cars with that tech and I usually turn it off b/c it tends to try to stop when it doesn't need to. If you ever drive through a construction area that has one of those big metal sheets on the ground to cover a hole it freaks out. If you are in stop and go traffic in a city it will freak out and hit the breaks when it doesn't need to. Screw having it on when it's icy out too.

This shite isn't close to ready for full autonomous driving. It's going to take long time for it to be any kind of actual safe b/c they straight up can't handle conditions that are less than perfect.
