Completely sidestepped the pay question.
And the right thing to do was to wait until the end of the season....but that wasn't the case for Les? Even though the basketball team was 10x the dumpster fire.

I know its a year old but how in the hell did Joey allow us to turn down the NIT bid last year?
Probably because Ben Simmons had already checked out and would've skipped the NIT had LSU accepted the invite. So LSU turning down the NIT invite was likely mostly due to wanting to avoid a high profile embarrassment for the program of accepting a tournament invite, then having their best player announce he would be skipping the tournament.

He waited to the end of the year cuz LSU might have one the SEC tourney and then kept Jones. What a dumb arse.

kinda like Fournette and the bowl game
only difference is LSU football had similar quality players behind LF7

Fournette was injured and had re-aggravated the same injury at least 2 other times during the regular season. Different situation for LF to skip the bowl game to allow his lingering ankle injury to actually heal before the combine. Anyone with common sense should understand LF's reasoning. Simmons wasn't hurt...so LSU accepting NIT bid only to have their star player skip the tournament would've been embarrassing to the program
