Thanks for the post. And yes, work is underway!
I tore down the old carport this past weekend. The crew is coming to set the 6x6s for the new pavilion tomorrow. I can't put the actual pavilion on yet, because the REA has to come out and move the power line where it feeds into the house. That's gonna be a couple of weeks.
So, I am going to spend this coming weekend building the deck. I own a sawmill, so instead of buying decking I am going to cut rough 1x8 pine. I have a bundle going into the kiln today. My current plan is to stain the deck with a mix of tractor oil and diesel fuel. Because I like the look a lot better than pressure treated. And, because, frick em.
I have an electrician coming the weekend of the 24th to wire everything up. (I lease some land to him for deer hunting so he doesn't charge me. He's a retired oil field electrician from down on the Bayou).
I have purchased a used commercial range, a Kamado grill, and a propane grill. I am building a "green egg table" that will house the two grills.
When I was up at T4's place I spied some great kitchen cabinet's from his homebuilding showroom. And he has the remnants of an old commercial kitchen with deep stainless sinks and all that. So, I still have to get up there and get those, which he was so generous to donate to the cause!!
And, I haven't even started on the grinders, sausage maker, meat slicing equipment yet.
And, to top it off, my father hasn't come back from FL to turkey hunt in 10 years. Naturally, he just told me that he is coming back the weekend of the 31st of March this year. So I've got three weeks to pull this off!
It won't be done when he gets here, but the meat and potatoes will be ready. And he can make some suggestions on how he wants me to tweak things. So, it's all good!
My goal here in the next few days is to learn how to post pics. I have tried a couple of times, and failed. But this time, I am gonna grind on it until I figure it out. Should have some progress photos by the end of this coming weekend.
As far as help: I refuse no help. I have no pride. Bring your arse and whatever skills you've got. I will put them to work.
ETA: Latest project idea is to use the salvaged lumber and tin from the old carport to build some deer stands. So, it pretty much never ends!
