I've bought refurbished cameras and lenses directly from Canon and have never had a problem. If I buy refurb I prefer to buy directly from the manufacturer.

He said if a refurbished has problems it's noted on the records of the staff that performed the QC checks. Too many, or if a pattern develops, and that person will be reassigned or terminated. Good to know. Canon usually has some great refurbished deals.
