So my knowledge on this is basically limited to what you hear on the mainstream news.

For those who think climate change is not an issue or is not real or not a big deal can you explain why you feel this way and what information you have to back up your sentiments.

I'm MAGA big time, the environment is the one area where I lean liberal but I want to get better educated on this issue.

What ya got?

You and Bill Nye have that in common.

Climate change is real

Man probably has some effect on it

But man's effect on it is greatly exaggerated by people, many of whom have a vested stake in it

Climate change is real. Human impact on it is little to nonexistent.

The sun penetrates our atmosphere and the rays get reflected back into space. The more co2 in the atmosphere the harder it is for the rays to escape back into space. So the heat sticks around more than it should and it warms the planet. It's called the Greenhouse Effect.

Most scientists say humans are to blame for increasing the co2.

Some say humans have little effect.

Some say humans do have an effect but the doomsday scenarios are greatly exaggerated.

I fall in the camp of the last one, that people are exaggerating the effects.

I think we should try to bring emissions down, but not go nuts with it where we hurt regular folks over it.

Just don't listen to anything related to Gore or Obama. Anyone they collaborate with should be ignored.

1. Based on ice core data, the Earth has been cooling for the last 10,000 years There have been multiple fluctuations within the trend, including the last 140 years.

2. the 97% concensus number is fabricated and I have provided quotes from members of scientists that were counted in the 97% that say their work was misrepresented.

3. CO2 leading warming is theoretical only. Based on ice core data, temperature leads CO2 by 800-1000 years.

4. Data from NASA where heat was observed passing through the ceiling of the greenhouse showed far more heat actually escaping than even the most conservative models predict.

5. Hacked emails show there was a conspiracy among some scientists to mislead the public.

6. The words "the debate is over" is a huge red flag in relation to science

7. Based on ice core data, the last few hundred thousand years have been nothing but rapid, consistent climate change, much of which was far more drastic than the last 140 years.

We're in a cold phase. Morons seem to think warming up at dime point is unexpected.

Few of any of the climate change chicken littles have ever bothered to read anything past the last 150 years or so.

Not to sound like a dick, but why come here for this question lol? This is a partisan political board and you are seeking clarity on an issue of science.

I feel like you would get much better results by:

- Finding some literature on the topic.

- Seeking out some scientific journals and looking at what the aggregate findings seem to say?

- Find academic lectures online

- Look for aggregate data from experts in the field?

- Look at international science reports or what other countries have concluded.

- If you want to be creative and doubt some of the climate community, you can look at how insurance companies or the military have researched and concluded about the topic. Since its effects and whether human activity is driving it are important for their respected fields.

Do some independent research and you will find out that the USA was the first and only country to meet the Kyoto Protocol standards on CO2 emissions, and we did by embracing fracking and natural gas not "green energy." Germany and the EU embraced "green energy" and shunned nuclear, which left the EU way too reliant on Russian oil and natural gas imports which makes them vulnerable because Putin can cut off the gas anytime he wants. Then in order to counter that vulnerability, Germany ramped up its coal usage, and the EU, the USA, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and others tried to overthrow Assad to control the natural gas pipelines heading to Europe which lead to civil war. Both of those things increased global carbon emissions, and Europe's carbon credit system turned out to be a massive failure.

In addition to the pack of lies the UN, the democratic party and the liberal media have been selling about their solutions, we've passed the point of no return and "runaway" climate change is now inevitable. Which just makes the liberal solutions even more ridiculous. Yes, climate change is a real issue and yes we need to limit CO2 emissions but "green energy" pipedreams, international clusterf**k agreements like Kyoto and Paris accords, carbon credit, and carbon tax goals are not the way to do it. If you want to "fight global warming" you should support expanding the use of nuclear energy to fight climate change, natural gas to replace coal, and increasing the USA's coal and LNG exports to Europe so they don't have to be dependent on Russia and/or meddling in the Middle East. Since "runaway climate change" is inevitable you should support restoring La's wetlands to protect against future storms and capture CO2, building desalination plants and new reservoirs in Ca to lessen the impacts of the drought, and other projects like those that will lessen the impacts of "runaway climate change."

I have less faith in those predicting climate change than I do those who have tried to predict how long we will have oil. Here is a summary of how well the scientific community has done on predicting peak oil -

Incorrect predictions of peak oil over the years

The climate has always changed, often far more quickly than now. About thirty years ago people on the left began to view it as a fruitful source of money for research as well as solutions. Because "catastrophe" sells, proponents and profiteers had to jet around the globe, expanding their carbon footprint, to herald our pending doom due to our growing carbon footprint. Interestingly, none of the catastrophes they predicted to have occurred by now have occurred, but they have grown rather flush with cash and carbon producing assets.
