When I was a kid, my parents' idea of going out on the town for a "big night" out was to take me and my brother here --

Christmas was all about going down to Canal Street and seeing the giant Santa Claus on the Sears building and Mr. Bingle on the facade of the Maison Blanche building.

I know where it is now, but where was it before? I thought it was more under the overpass.

We were taken to Piccadilly or Pasquale's Pizza

and speak of the devil, I just learned that there are at least still two Pasquale's -- in MS, one in Greenville and one in Laurel

Piccadilly wasn't a big thing in New Orleans until the 80's. In the 70's-80's, the big "cafeteria" was Morrisons.

When I was in high school and college, my dad used to like to meet downtown and eat at the D.H. Holmes cafeteria on Bienville (right next to Holmes' "garage from hell") -

Yeah I should have included Morrison's. I grew up partly in Jackson MS, which had both for awhile
