I think there was a coverup regarding how the operation was funded, and what groups were behind it, but I believe it happened exactly as the official story says. The plane crash caused the collapse of the twin towers, and the resulting firestorm took down wtc7. The aftermath was also likely manipulated to further a political agenda, much like many disasters like Sandy Hook.

There was no flight intercept simply because we really had gotten just that lax and incompetent. Never attribute to malevolence what could just as easily be attributable to incompetence.
