Why is it that baseball fans are so superstitious about stuff like that? I've been a baseball fan all my life and never actually believed any of that

I like the believe that I'm not superstitious when it comes to baseball, but I don't push it.

People started yapping about the no hitter, and it was broken up. Did it really have anything to do with Maryland getting a hit? No. Should it have been spoken about? Hell No.

Its just baseball I guess. I always did things a certain way when I played, yet told myself I'm not superstitious.

I wouldn't say football isn't that way at all. You don't know anybody that has a game day shirt? Or cooks a certain game deal meal, or drink? There are plenty of people who have to do a certain thing for football too.

Can't say that I do.

But why is it only baseball that this thing about certain feats (like a no-hitter), and other sports don't? I've never understood that. It's one thing in a dugout. I get leaving Poche on the other side by himself (although he could easily start thinking about it and blow it), but why on other do people believe that talking about it on a broadcast or the internet is going to jinx it?

Hell, Lynn and Ben were basically saying everything but no-hitter on TV. Lynn kept hinting at it. And Doug Thompson kept saying "still no hits" after the top of every inning.

I don't get it. Either talk about it or don't.

In that regard, side walk football fans are probably worse, because the side walk baseball fans likely don't know all the "unwritten rules" of the game. Can't hold that against them.

However, I don't know that any sidewalk fan is a good one.
