Amare and Richardson were in their prime and a perfect fit for gentry. Amare was averaging near 25 a game in Phoenix as one of the best players in the league and you wanna talk about a 34 year old Vince Carter and Gortat.
I was being sarcastic. Sort of.
Yes i know amare was in his prime and really good.
34 year old Carter is still better than 30 year old Richardson, and Gortat is younger than all of them.
A team of Nash, Hill, Gortat, Carter/Richardson, Robin lopez, Dudley, Frye, Brooks is better than a below .500 team, especially after most of them were just part of 5 seasons of 50+ wins.
He's not a good head coach, plain and simple. He can't adjust to his team personnel. Not being able to do that is what makes a bad coach.

It doesn't matter. What matters is who are the realistic replacements and how AD and Cousins would feel about them. I do think if you want to try a guy like Messina you probably need to do it this offseason. If they don't play well down the stretch changing coaches should be an easier sell. If you wait until after next year when Cousins is a FA and AD can be offered the DPE, they are going to have a lot of leverage over who the next coach is, which I'm fine with. I'd let AD's BFF barber coach if that's what it took for AD and Cousins to resign.
