I agree, it's right there in the name. Just like the Holy Roman Empire, or the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
According to them, Republic and Democracy refer to be same concept of a governmental system and are therefore incompatible with one another. And we are unique in choosing a Republic, the superior form of government.
Obviously some other great nations have caught on and uses this superior form of Government like:
Islamic Republic of Iran
Union of Soviet Socialist Republics

I thought about posting some choice primary quotes from Hitler around the time he kicked out the Strasserists (the actual socialists) but honestly that would be like pulling a gun on a toddler.
