I wouldn't say ND filters are a one trick pony.
They can be used for long exposures in bright light but probably more importantly, for stopping down when shooting with a flash in daylight.
Check the best rated filters on BH Photo. I'm not sure BB will carry the top end pieces. You have to watch because cheap filters can cause things such as color casts.
