I used to be a diehard Saints fan until I realized just how much time I was spending to follow a frustrating team. Pregame radio show for an hour, the 3 hour game, Hap's Point After for an hour after the game and then Buddy D's radio show. Minimum 6 hours.
After moving out of LA, it gets harder to follow the home teams. When Alabama played LSU ON 1/9 to attempt to tie up the season series, I didn't see a single down because I was out hunting down a particular medicine for my kid. Didn't bother me at all.
The only person near my age who is still way into sports is a coworker from Alabama who didn't graduate from University of Alabama but acts like the games are life and death.
