Very good questions. We'll never get these answers probably. I was confused by this character too. We were told he wasn't a Jedi then he does Jedi feats. Being blind but able to do all those things, he must've had some Force ability.

You don't have to be a Jedi to use the force. Using the force doesn't make you a Jedi.

or he could've been a jedi if there were jedi left to train him. He was probably jedi material.
