It's not at all. But defending against it is a part of the job, a big part. The Hillary camp had a very poor showing in their job interview.
We will always be doing it, and it will always be attempted against us. The Democratic Party (John podesta phishing scam) had incriminating evidence laying around, and it was poorly defended.
What trump is dealing with is internal, which is a little bit different.

But just how did Russia "interfere" with our election??
Unless you consider truth to be interference. Has anyone ever said one any one of the leaked items was incorrect??
Don't you want an informed public?
Or do you prefer that only one side of a political issue be allowed to be discussed.
