No
Much rather a young guy with unlimited upside, we know what Crean is.

Yes. A proven commodity

That guy could also have no upside.
There have been quite a few schools in the SEC who went after the "young up and comer", only to have it fail:
Anthony Grant - Alabama
Stan Heath - Ark.
Rick Ray - Miss. St.
John Pelphrey - Ark.
Tony Barbee - Auburn
Darrin Horn - South Carolina
Buzz Peterson - Tenn.
Billy Donovan has been the exception to the rule. Mike White is doing great this year, but it's only year two.
I don't mind taking a "young" guy if there are no great experienced candidates out there willing to come to your school for what you are willing to pay. However, the recent trend in the league has been to pass over the young unknown for the known commodity
Pearl at AU
Barnes at UT
Martin at USC
Howland at MSU
Anderson at Ark.
Still, it's all a crapshoot. You're just hedging your bets that a guy who has done it before, can do it again.
Crean (personality-wise) would be similar to hiring John Brady again. But he has won. He's been good at IU. The problem is "good" is not good enough there.
I think it would definitely be worth gauging his interest. In the end though, I don't think Alleva is good enough or savvy enough to pull off that kind of hire.
