So a film that made $900 million worldwide is a dud now?

Yes it is, because they set their studio's budget around what they estimate the box office gross is going to be. That's about $500 million dollars down the tube on other projects they were planning on financing.

Not true at all. The superhero genre had been going strong at the box office since X-Men debuted in the summer of 2000. It was the draw of superhero films that made Marvel decide to take the plunge and develop an inter-connected universe. That never happens without the success of the X-Men and Spider-Man franchises.

Those aren't on MCU levels though. They were really more fun summer action movies. I didn't have faith they could actually make Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man work in the same universe, but they pulled it off. It was a huge gamble on Marvel's part, and it really paid off.

Only if the movies continue critically disappoint. Hopefully Warner Bros. has learned their lesson and the next two films are better received.

There's been nothing but bad news so far. They deserve absolutely no benefit of the doubt, and every horrible bit of news that came out from the last 3 turned out to be true.

And yet they upped the budget on Justice League and greenlighted two more DCEU films in the movie's aftermath. If there was disappointment in Dawn of Justice's BO returns, they sure as hell aren't showing it.

Are you referring to X-Men and Spider-Man? Because that's exactly what the MCU movies are. Pure, formulaic, popcorn entertainment.

Not true. They're going to continue making these movies. So that's a plus. Sooner or later they'll get it right.
