If it was a pure smear job from the Obama administration and intelligence community, why wouldn't Trump do what he always does, and fight back?
Trump is often loyal to a fault, and relishes a challenge from the establishment, so not fighting back wouldn't make sense, unless there was good reason not to.

Trump hates being lied to. And Trump fired him due to that. The content has to be known by now.
