Crappie jig placed through holes in floating mats. Go where big boats cannot.

It seems like the fish are not afraid of the kayak or maybe I can just see them better.

Every fishing trip I’ve ever made to Chicot was different. Most of them were spent wondering if there were any fricking fish in the entire lake. Then I had one trip where I absolutely slaughtered them. That place is nuttier than a squirrels pantry.

I use to catch some big bass back in the 1990’s when I visited family who lived in the area. They had a thing going if you caught a 13 lb bass or tagged bass you would win some cash.

My cousin and I fished it 8 days in a row from sun up to sun down when you had to leave.
I caught a 9lb bass in bluesprings I believe next to 3 gators and a huge wasp nest on a jig.

I know by the spillway they had a good spot, North flats were okay, and I use to love the bluesprings area until I saw a gator longer than the boat I was in.

Old map from Cary’s Sporting goods.

You're going to get eaten by a gator.
