People underestimate how stupid the general public is.
I just read an account of the fast food wars of the 80s. McDonalds hit it big with the Quarter Pounder with Cheese. A competitor came out with a 1/3 pound burger at the same price point. It beat McDonalds in taste tests but just never sold.
Why? because 60 percent of customers thought 1/3 was smaller than 1/4 and they thought McDonalds had the better deal.
