Why is there so much gear?

It's almost Diablo-esque in how they constantly throw so much gear at you. It facilitates the weapon/armor upgrade system given that you can dismantle items for raw materials, but it makes inventory management a pain when you have 5 of the same item all with different stats, and it isn't just different abilities either. It's actual stats like increased HP or attack power that is different as well.

Half the time I buy gear but when I go to equip it, I can't remember which version of which piece I actually bought. I don't think there's a way to equip right after you buy something, although I could have overlooked it.

Because you're expected to upgrade your gear, which requires the materials you get from dissembling them.

I haven't purchased a piece of gear since I was about level 20. I'm now level 50+.

The only time to purchase gear is to disassemble it for parts.

I'm also level 18 when it comes to exploring. I don't move on until I get every item in each place.

I'm right at the ceremony of suppression and the team's response. Getting close to the end game.
