I'd like the pro trade people to talk about the second question, not the first. How is trading for this guy and what he is likely to become as a player better than keeping options open that could land you better or different kinds of players?

I look at it with these lenses:

1-If we keep the pick to draft a guy in 2018: We are waiting 3 years (from today) for this guy to contribute. If it's protected, say even just top 7, minimal chance this player moves the needle.

2- Keep options open: Vary rare does the opportunity present itself to land a young talent under control for a few years. Yes, Okafor has major flaws on defensive end, but he's only 20 and we get him until 2020 for dirt cheap. Hard to find another situation where a future first gives us that.

3- Fit and role for JO: I see a potential good fit next to AD. On offense, AD can space the floor and give JO room in the paint. On defense, JO hasn't played with a stretch 4 that can protect the lane and rebound like a C in AD.

4- Assets and young talent: We've been missing this for last few years. Okafor, Buddy, 2017 1st. Now we are getting somewhere. We've never had leverage in trades do to lack of assets.

If you ask me, would you draft Jahlil Okafor in 2018 with a pick outside the top 7? I say yes. And I get to get him a year and 1/2 early, even better!
