I find that hard to believe honestly. I hated his offense as much as anyone but the guy kept a job in the NFL for a long arse time. You don't just walk around as an "idiot" and coach in the NFL for 15 years. Doesn't really work that way. Now, without NFL talent his offense was fricking horrible, and Les Miles didn't help matters on that front because he wouldn't let the offensive evolve. I don't know if Cam was capable of evolving the offense either but it for sure wasn't going to happen with Les involved. I just seriously doubt an NFL coordinator makes it that long being an idiot.
I'm thinking Taylor just didn't like the guy . Which I could for sure see that being the case.

He certainly seemed clueless coaching that 2007 dolphins team

Taylor is speaking of him as a headcoach, not offensive coordinator. He was a mediocre OC and a pretty good QB developer in the NFL, but was a wretched head coach.

There's a BIG difference between being a OC and being a HC with input on personnel decisions. He took over the Dolphins who needed a QB badly. So what does Cam do? He re-signs legendary Cleo Lemon becuase he was familiar with him from his days as the 3rd string QB in San Diego. Leading up to the the 2007 NFL draft, Dolphin fans are drooling over the thought of Brady Quinn. With Quinn still available, Cam goes and takes Ted Ginn Jr. with the #9 overall pick and tells the media that Ginn isn't reay to play WR in the NFL but he can make a difference returning kicks. We all knew Cam was idiot right that moment. Then he goes and trades a draft pick for a 37-year QB (Trent Green) with brain damage after wasting his 2nd round pick on QB (John Beck) who threw 107 passes in his Miami before getting released after 2 years.

It absolutely works that way. The NFL does nothing but recycle coaches.

Yes they can and they do.
You should listen to some of the firs Saints players talking about the early Saints coaches.
Those coaches went to other teams and staid in the league for years.
How could man a be hired as Head Coach at Southern Miss then LSU who couldn't coach a High School team?
Google Curley Hallman.
