Think about how many more people could have jobs if we got rid of shite like refrigeration, or the wheel, or electricity!
Automation is a fantastic tool of human production. We WANT machines to do work for us. It makes us more productive and free to do other, more productive things with our time.
There will always be a need for manual labor in some capacity. The problem with that is that anyone can do those task with minimal training. Low skill, low barrier to entry jobs are always going to pay less. Want a good, long term job that pays well? You'd better learn a skill of some kind.
