If robots put 90% of the workforce out of work, who will have money to buy the products produced by these robots?

The flip side is assuming that it will happen, and hand-waving it into happening overnight. Usually, the people who say that read an article in some high-brow article or watched a TED Talk on it. And they also like to say, "Oh, you're white collar or middle class? YOUR job, too!" These issues are usually far more complicated and dynamic than that. And until we achieve Artificial General Intelligence (machine = intelligence level of humans, perhaps sentient), I don't think we are close to being under threat in a big way.

That said, I think people should be constantly working to exploit technologies to make themselves more valuable. That's what I've tried to do myself.

On that note, here's a TED talk from an MIT economist that I've mentioned on here before. He asks, why are there still so many jobs?
