Is the Cedar worth $2300 extra?

Treated pine will still need maintenance done on it from time to time. Cedar should be ok. Appearance might change and look weathered but shouldn't rot

I used Cedar. Never had a problem. I hear the pine can start warping on you after a couple years.

It depends on the overall value of your house and neighborhood. If you are planning to stay there forever, go Cedar. If you're gonna sell the house, and fear you might not get your money back from the pergola, then stick with treated pine. You'll enjoy it the same. But the next owner probably won't pay you for it unless it's in an OT Baller neighborhood.

for an OT baller, this can be recovered by having your employees work an extra couple hours.
