"Angry Umatilla Ready To Take On Um's Hurricanes
May 31, 2003|By Mike Bianchi, Sentinel Columnist
Running off at the typewriter . . .
Since reporting in this space last week that the University of Miami had fired off a "cease and desist" logo infringement (the U on the helmet) letter to little Umatilla High School, irate readers have taken action. An embarrassed UM booster has offered to purchase all of the high school's leftover merchandise with the old logo on it, area attorneys have offered to take the case to court and try it pro bono, and the local chamber of commerce is drafting a letter of protest. The message is clear: UM better back off because it just picked a fight with Umatilla the Hun. . . . "

ST. AMANT, LA (WAFB) - The company that licenses college and university logos has ordered a Louisiana high school to change its brand. Officials said the gator logo St. Amant High School uses looks too much like the one used by the University of Florida.

Pretty sure U High had the U logo (Miami) for a few years but had to go back to the old logo.
