Absolutely. This conflict is taking place in Donetsk, a city where the overwhelming majority of the population speak Russian and a large percentage of the population consider themselves to be Russian. The conflict between Ukrainian speaking Catholics, Russian speaking Orthodox Christians, and Ukrainian Tartar Muslims in Donetsk Oblast and Crimea dates back to the wars between the Ottomans and the Romanov dynasty in the early 18th century. To think that arming the Ukrainians will solve anything again exposes the absolute arrogance of neoconservatism and nation building.

1. How is giving an established and internationally recognized government weapons nation building?

2. The conflict is going on in Donetsk, but Donetsk is in Ukraine and the USA promised to come to Ukraine's aid if it were attacked in exchange for Ukraine giving up its nukes. Unlike in 2014 and early 2015, Ukraine now has a respectable army that is the largest in Europe except for Russia's, modernized tanks, US and NATO trained special forces. It just needs advanced anti-tank weapons, anti-aircraft systems, etc so that they are not shooting soviet era soviet designed weapons that use the same frequencies as the Russians backed rebels.

2. It is not arrogance it is fact. The Russians respect strength and if Trump wants to have a good relationship with Russia he needs them to respect him. Reagan armed the mujahideen, rebuilt our military, strengthened NATO and the Russians (then the USSR) respected that, which lead to Reagan and USSR/Russia having a good working relationship.

4. Plus it would make the democrats, the media, and the other ****s shut up about Trump being a Putin puppet.
