Absolutely. This conflict is taking place in Donetsk, a city where the overwhelming majority of the population speak Russian and a large percentage of the population consider themselves to be Russian. The conflict between Ukrainian speaking Catholics, Russian speaking Orthodox Christians, and Ukrainian Tartar Muslims in Donetsk Oblast and Crimea dates back to the wars between the Ottomans and the Romanov dynasty in the early 18th century. To think that arming the Ukrainians will solve anything again exposes the absolute arrogance of neoconservatism and nation building.
