I'm thinking Black Mirror or Bates Motel, what y'all think?

As you can tell by those two choices I'm thinking something in the sci-fi or suspense/horror genre.

I couldn't binge Black Mirror. I tried but it's so dark and some of the episodes made me want to stop and reflect for a bit before moving on.

Black Mirror is hard to binge. It is so goddamn depressing.

My wife would make us watch a comedy after each episode.

I really like Black Mirror.

Also, if the Artificial Intelligence is something that interests you Humans is another good series. Im not sure if it is on Netflix but I know it was on Prime.

Just watched the 3 "Department Q" movies. Filmed in Denmark. Pretty good dark police drama. Cold case files.

Also, "The Break". Filmed in Belgium.

Just finished The Magicians. Solid and season 2 just started on SyFy so you'll be caught up just a continued show to watch

Bates Motel is a good choice. The 5th and final season starts February 20th on A&E.

Not sure if you like comicbook series but:

-Daredevil S1 and S2
-Jessica Jones S1
-Luke Cage S1

In a couple months you'll have:

-Iron Fist S1

Then later this year I think:

-The Defenders S1 (Which is the group above forming together like the Avengers)

You can also try:

-Travelers
-The OA (YMMV)

I can't recommend black mirror strongly enough based on your preferences, although you absolutely NEED to be aware of a few things.

First and foremost, and I can't stress this enough, the first episode stinks. People hear all about how fantastic BM is (and trust me, it is) so they settle in for season 1 episode 1 and come away thinking they've been duped. This one (along with S2E3) are widely considered by FAR the worst episodes of the series. If I can offer a suggestion, I would strongly recommend skipping this episode as you get started. Which brings me to the next point..

Each episode stands on its own. Different story, different universe, different characters, everything. So skipping episode 1 isn't going to put you "behind" in any way or miss out on anything important.

If you like sci-fi/suspense I can't think of a better suggestion than Black Mirror. I would just highly recommend skipping the first episode to start. Also, as others have said though, it's not necessarily a "binge" show. It's really friggin good, but you aren't going to watch 5 or 6 in a row I wouldn't think.

These threads are hard if we don't know what you have seen.

Black Mirror is not a good binge choice. It's not a serial, so there isn't really even a point.

Dexter? You have probably seen it.

Well, if you're ever in line for a comedy, I'd go with

The Inbetweeners
Peep Show

Penny Dreadful is awesome. The 'Closer Than Sisters' episode of season one was one of the best singular episodes of a series I've seen in a while. Movie quality in all aspects: writing, acting, etc. Just started season two. Excellent first episode.
