bad teams are generally unlucky. They have 3, maybe 4 teams in their division that will finish in the top half of the league in runs scored. With the lineup they have the have a very small margin for error.

I think they will pitch but you are asking for Miller to produce another career year and Longo to hit the fountain of youth again. They traded a key cog in Forsythe as well, and lost Steve Pearce(within the division) who gave them good ABS last year.

Maybe it's the other way around. Maybe really unlucky teams are mistakenly thought of as bad? The Red Sox and Cubs were two of the unluckiest teams in baseball last year according BaseRuns and they obviously were really good.

I do agree the Rays run production has some major questions, but what team in the AL outside of Boston, Cleveland and maybe Houston doesn't have major questions?

Pirates, but it comes down to their pitching. They have some highly touted young pitching. If those guys can move in and give them innings and a chance, they can win the WC.
