The narrative was always that young Mr. Till was from Chicago and that things were that much different there than in State Number Fifty.
Not being pollyannish, but in 1955 it was very unlikely that in Chicago AA kids would whistle at an adult white female in a public place.
That story always smelt bad to me. This tragic event is a part of the "good ole days" that was anything but good.
