What if this had happened in the area where you live and you, as a taxpayer, would ultimately be footing the bill?
I agree someone needs to be punished but the amount of money school districts have been paying out in lawsuits as a result of the actions of a single teacher is out of control.

Except this isn't the action of a single teacher. The school was stupid enough to have this policy in the first place. As a result of this stupid policy, a teenage girl was permanently humiliated in front of her peers. This is something she will never forget or live down. This is a situation where the verdict is absolutely just.
