Not sure if you guys are aware but there is more to an ADs job than just hiring coaches tow in games (especially in Louisiana).

I may have missed it, but was the athletic department struggling financially before he arrived? Were there no long term project and fundraising plans in place? Did he play a big part in negotiations on behalf of the SEC in the media deal, leading to all the revenue we receive from the conference?
As for politics, you can make an argument it's keeping him employed, not hindering him.
