I get it but once you are giving the HC job you don't continue to invest time into recruits that have picked your rival. LSU should have sloted players they wanted offered them not the few players that they offered before with hopes to get them back on board and wait on them to stick with your rivals now you are in scramble mode and going out offering players and trying to invest time now maybe to little to late! Recruits don't want to be viewed as backup plans. It's the sad but true facts of this cycle. Players have even commented on that about us.

Personally, I would have gone ahead and offered Etienne before Akers decided, just to be safe, so I see your point there. As for the LBs, they had too much time invested in Allen to just drop him. Recruiting is about relationships, and it was awfully late in the game to start pursuing new targets when we had to. Honestly, O did a lot better than I expected a month ago getting in on some guys who are as good or better than Moses and Allen. Unfortuntely, we were likely too late to seal a deal. I'm still holding out hope, but I don't think the odds are with us at the moment.

I still see the fallout of the decisions made under Miles in what is happening now. Think about this- Jacob Phillips never would have committed to OU if Miles hadn't been a fricking idiot and taken his commitment when he wanted to give it. THAT stupid arse, short sighted decision is a big reason why we are scrambling for LBs right now. I don't think this is an isolated instance, either.

If early recruiting for the future and the offers made down the stretch are any indications, I think we will see a wider recruiting net cast from here on out. They will likely mean more requesting guys to greyshirt or flat out processing, but that's what our primary competition is doing. Anyway, I just think the results a year from now will tell us a lot more than this class will.
