I'm going to give O his fair shot, but assuming shite hits the fan with this class, was landing the #8-11 recruiting class honestly worth hiring O?

So in a year in which you fired your head coach you are going to question the coaching hire because he didn't land a top 5 class? Hypothetically of course.

Name me a coaching transition that resulted in a top 5 recruiting class this millennium?

Having Leonard Fdid nothing obviously for us at that position. We can't get a stud running back 2 years in a row. I think LSU is the only school to have the last five starters go pro. We backed ourselves in a corner with LB and RB and Oline. Here we go again.

As I have said before, this is a situation where you did not hire a brand new coach from the outside and brought in a brand new staff. You hired an interim HC, and kept most of the staff intact. With that kind of continuity comes some expectation.

One of the main points for hiring O was that he'd maintain an elite class. It was #4 when he walked in, and it MAY fall back anywhere from 8-12.

Yeah, I think when you make the interim coach full-time and retains most of the previous staff, it's okay to think he's going to sign an elite class.

People keep saying this as if LSU actually experienced a full coaching transition. Had we gotten Herman or Jimbo, this excuse would be valid.

Our entire staff has essentially remained in place. Our interim coach, that had previously been our recruiting coordinator for the past year, was promoted to the full time position.

If anything, Orgeron has been screwing up pretty nicely on the recruiting side of things.

- Randomly fired one of our better recruiters back in December and never replaced him.
- Randomly thew out an offer to Tagovailoa, which pissed off our two QB commits, forcing O to do major damage control to get them to recommit.
- Lost out on Akers, despite the fact that Akers said he loved O and was hoping he would get the permanent job.
- Promoted a grad assistant to a full time coaching position, instead of going out and hiring a proven, elite recruiter and coach.
