Why do you think they offered her $65k?

It will take too long for me to go into all the details of what led to that offer, but I know for a fact that a large part of the reason was because she's a woman. It's no secret amongst the employees there that women are underpaid compared to men. We've heard similar stories from others that we are friends with inside the organization. Most women there are pissed, but they are afraid of speaking out for fear of losing their jobs. So, no one ever says anything to try to change it.

So my wife really had only three choices, 1. accept it; 2. decline and risk losing her job; 3. search for other employment and in her line of work it's not easy finding another job.

Even where I work as an Engineer, I know women or underpaid compared to men. Don't act like it doesn't exists.

if all that is true it's an EEOC violation (i'm assuming based on the description there are enough employees to qualify). we LITERALLY have laws for that scenario, if true
