Keep in mind that I supported Rand in the primary, but I have a question. How come when Trump breaks ranks, he is a big government liberal, but when Rand does it he is a "man of principle"?

Well Trump has a history of being a big-government liberal and Rand doesn't.

Hopefully, Trump doesn't anymore, but he has not even been consistent about that during his campaigning.

He's pretty much always stuck to his guns. Trump hasn't.

I don't know that "breaking rank" is relevant here. Rand is pretty consistent and seems moored to his base philosophical beliefs. We don't really have enough data on Trump to make that determination yet, but to this point, his overall positions don't seem to fit a pure conservative or liberal definition. So you won't find me, at least, worrying about him "breaking rank".
