This isn't the Grammys. And, if a kid is in Kindergarten in an inauguration year - he's going to have, what, 4 inaugurations at most.

I can even see skipping one if a guy is re-elected. But, part of our problem is that we want to eschew all the things that make our culture unique (and superior). This is one of those things.

No it's not. This is significant historically. HOWEVER, unlike the Grammys or sports, there is no suspense of an unexpected outcome, a primary component of their value. Watching it at noon or at home after school is not really much different.

And whether it's viewed live or DVR'd, one can still take it in. Besides, just like I have an important meeting at noon, most people still have to go about their business. Student learning is no different, although I don't have an issue if they watched it either.
