he gave them 230 innings with a fip at 3.6 and a fip- at 86. Sure, they probably wanted a fip of sub 3 and a fip- of sub 70, but him giving them 230 innings at those numbers is far from a failure and the value shows that

And fine, chalk that David price contract up as a bad one after his rough year this year. Even though I disagree, it still doesn't change the fact that we have a bunch of other recent examples of players getting $200MM in their 30s and it working out

You could argue that his bad playoff start takes away bit of his value provided over the regular season. After all, the biggest thing they brought him in to do was be a postseason ace because they were going to get there with or without David Price.
