Well, "Mexican" isn't a race for starters.
Technicalities aside, I think in the profile of folks who tend to be harbor these sorts of attitudes...those kind of blanket negative statements are probably pretty high on the list of indicators. You might also find yourself a little less amused by these semantic differences if you were one of the groups routinely admonished on here in such general and unsupported terms.

However, I would contend that the statement "without blacks and Mexicans our schools would be fine" is a poor place to start this discussion.

If it's been proven to be an accurate assessment, why is it a poor premise . . . even if "racist."

It's not a technicality.

You have no idea what "group" I belong to.

Man, you are a hell of a lot more polite than I am with this nonsense. I'd personally tell most this trash to kick rocks but in more profane terms

Yet I might also arrive at the all-too-relevant conclusion that you cannot regulate human nature through sentimental concerns. People WILL BE "truthful and accountable," especially if there are high stakes involved.

If I were one of those groups, I have no doubt that my "feelings" might be hurt . . . a lot . . . however, I would also realize that sentiment is often the enemy of truth and that my group and culture are indeed culpable and even complicit in certain socio-cultural issues like education.

Does it impact how wrong it is whether it is "racism", "xenophobia", or any other classification of someone who harbors negative attitudes towards a particular group?

Anyway, time to hit the books. Ironic that this thread on education is now distracting me from my post-graduate work.

Is that the way you read it?

That tells me there is really only a problem with Black and Hispanic minority groups.
Does this not mesh with your opportunity thesis?

Perhaps but I would contend that your resentment towards these groups has equally hindered your pursuit of truth. Sentimentality and resentment will alter perception of reality in equal measure my friend.

Anyways, have a good evening. I have no ill will against you.

Look at the fricking under 30 year olds who have absolutely no critical thinking skills and damn near cannot function if something does not go their way.

They didn't just spring up out of nowhere.

Repeated disillusionment after teaching and engaging "these groups" has brought me to this "resentment." And while I don't disagree with your own claim, I'd have to disagree that my perception has been altered in one way rather than the other enough to skew my judgment and self-awareness.

In any case, have a good night boning up on your MA social science course requirements.

I'd hate to ask what you consider your good whiskey...

Drink what you want. It's just great how this unfolded.

I wish. I'll be spending my evening highlighting security vulnerabilities in web app code.

I have a deep resentment of liberal arts majors (and their luxurious barista careers)
