I'd say the argument for asking Evans to score in clutch situations is that he isn't very good at it.
Despite more clutch attempts(5 minutes or less with a 5 point differential) then any player in 14-15, he shot a paltry 35%. He can draw fouls but that is a major gamble in those situations for someone that avoids more then initiates contact. This season his percentages so far are worse....though as an assist guy he is solid if not more in the clutch. Teams seem to collapse the paint knowing that's Evans only high percentage area. Daring him either hit a contested jumper or make a pass.
Then again none of our main players are shooting well in the clutch. Davis used to be a monster in the clutch. Shooting 50-70% depending on the clutch situation. Now he is in the low 30's. Might be one of the bigger indictments on Gentry's late game coaching, the stark contrast from key players output late in games vs Monty. Who for all his faults seemed to get more players then not in good positions to make plays(Evans aside).
